Wow. I hear you and relate to this so, so much. Fear is a big one for me, too. I love the 12 Steps and I went through them a few years ago. Reading this is a reminder for me that it might be time to revisit!

Great idea - run the 1/2 marathon with becca and go back to school with me :)

Hi Maris,
Just thought about August today and dropped in to see how things are going. I found the adoption blog last year through Aaron's page. When we found out we were pregnant last August we immediately started to think of names for our little one. I think we had a list of girl's names but could never agree on a boy's name. Being that my husband's and my names both start with A, we were determined to pick an "A" name for the baby as well. Of course because we could find a boy name we were told we were expecting a little boy come April of this year. One day while I was at work (not working) I came across the adoption blog again. I immediately emailed my husband and asked him what he thought of the name August. He loved it... and turns out it stems from the same name "Augustine" as my husband's name Austin does. We were sold! Sooo our August Miles Henninger was born April 25, 2009. We don't know of many Augusts out there... but we know of one and that is how we found a name for him. :-) Hope you keep this blog up for many many years so our August can see where and who he got his name from! Many blessings to you and your beautiful family.

~Amanda

P.S. I don't update our blog as much as I used to but feel free to find us on Facebook by searching my email addresss :)

Maris,

I've been lurking on your blog, mainly because I have a huge heart for Haiti after having been there twice in my teen years. My recently adopted daughter has hair like August's and we are pulling our hair out trying to get it to stay as nicely as you have Augusts. How on earth do you keep his hair so nice!?
